Simon M

Simon M's roots came from a pair of belt driven Technics turntables bought in Birmingham while studying the unlikely course of Computer Science at the University. Within a couple of months he got his first taste as a club DJ at local venues and over the next 5 years he worked his way through the commercial locations, ending up playing well respected house clubs such as Miss Moneypennys' Jelly Baby @ Bakers and Crunch and warming up for legends such as Tony De Vit and Rob Tissera.

It was in Birmingham that his first taste of being a radio presenter came too. Burn FM gave an outlet to Simon's energetic presentation style, and the weekly specialist show proved a great success with it's funky house flavour.

In 1997 Simon returned south to Bournemouth and began working the bars and clubs of what was described in the national music press as "the clubbing capital of the UK". Playing many weekly gigs as both a house dj and trance dj, it was a logical step for Simon to extend his skills as a radio presenter on The NRG radio station when it started in 1999, presenting Saturday and Sunday specialist shows.

Creating the Anthemia brand, this proved extremely popular both on and off air, with the weekly club night turning into an over capacity sweat box and Simon expanding to play more respected underground venues such as The Country Club.

In 2000 Simon M expanded his horizons further with a round the world plane ticket and after landing in Asia found himself playing on Bali's only English speaking radio station and their best underground club "Double 6". Arrival in Australia saw Simon land a job as A&R/Licensing Manager with Sydney based Petrol Records, where he licensed, mixed and released the "Geezer!" funky house compilation album, shipping around 9,000 copies.

Into 2002 and Simon joined Live & Direct Broadcasting, without doubt Australia's leading force in dance radio production. Simon programmed and presented "Rush" on Nova 969 (a DMG FM network station) using both his skills as a trance dj and radio presenter in this 6 hour weekly upfront trance show and L&D's most prestigious contract.

After returning to the UK in late 2002, Simon joined Fire 107.6 FM, where he now presents a weekly Friday night trance show. You can catch him weekly in the Bournemouth clubs such as The Venue or Bar Med. Make sure you check him out soon...
